Sam Tanson was born on 4 April 1977 in Luxembourg.
Following classical secondary school studies at Lycée Robert Schuman, Sam Tanson obtained a law degree at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2000. She continued her studies at the Institut d’études politiques in Paris, where she received her degree in 2002. In 2008, she pursues a master's 2 degree by correspondence in environmental law at the université de Limoges
On January 15th, 2021, Sam Tanson hosted a videoconference with her counterparts of Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain to discuss access to cross-border e-evidence in criminal matters and electronic data retention.
On 7 January 2021, Minister for Culture Sam Tanson gave an update on the reopening of cultural institutions and the new measures aimed at the cultural sector, as provided for in the draft law amending the amended law of 17 July 2020 introducing a series of measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
